Shrinky Dinks – DIY

So this week we decided to try making homemade Shrinky Dinks. If you google it you will find that most #6 plastic will work for this fun and sometimes frustrating craft. Some #6 plastic would work and some did not but either way we had fun with the craft experiment. It is amazing how when it does work well the plastic that shrinks keeps all the drawing detail in tact but very small.

Annual trip to Old McDonald Farm

Today we decided to surprise the kids with a field trip to Old McDonald Farm. The kids love this sweet simple farm. Each year at least once we make it to the farm to get their fill of riding horses, feeding deer and playing on the big sand hill.

My own photo wall display

As a photographer I am often helping others design the perfect layout of photos for their walls. Finally I took the time to make a wall display for myself. I had this idea and was thrilled when it came together so easy. A big thank you t o my wonderful husband for helping me hang them so perfectly. Could not have hung them without him. I love Hobby Lobby for all the great wall accents you can find and at such amazingly low prices!!!

Crystals first birthday!

A year ago were blessed with our sweet dog Crystal. After one year of having her in our family we can honestly say she is joy to have around. So just to clarify our dog does NOT normally eat at the table and she will probably never eat at the table again. I have a week stomach for that kind of thing. The kids had fun treating Crystal to a yummy breakfast and gifts.

Zachary finally loves to read

Zachary is currently in third grade and loves to read!

Zachary’s first and second grade years of reading came with much struggle. This summer my friend Amy suggest I put down all the readers and go straight to some fun chapter books. She suggested the Magic Treehouse books. I decided to purchase a bunch of them at a thrift store. The first one we shared the reading.  Zach would read a page then I would read a page.  He is now on book 7. He takes these books everywhere. He will often run upstairs to grab a  book and tells me I may have time to read. Oh I am so happy I could have cry!!! finally he has experienced the joy of reading!

I know I am a photographer and I pose my kids a lot but just in case you are wondering. He was really reading and I had to capture it for the blog.:)
