Tonkin Caramel corn mix – we call it GORP

Tonkin’s GORP

Popcorn mixture:
1/2 – 2/3c. of un-popped kernels in a reg measuring cup
4 cups twisty pretzels
5 cups plain cherrios, oatmeal squares, crispix, etc.
1 cup pecans (optional)

Caramel mixture:
2 cups butter (4 sticks) do not substitute margarine or butter blends
3/4 cups corn syrup
2 cups brown sugar
Cook all of this till melted and bubbly –about 5 minutes
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda –it will froth up when you add this (remove from heat)

Quickly pour over popcorn mixture. Stir to coat well.  Pour onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 250 for 20 – 30 minutes, stir mixture.  Bake and additional 15 -30 minutes.  Stir after it rests  for a few minutes..

2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup chocolate morsels

Stir to distribute chocolate after 5 more minutes.

Cool. Store in Ziplocs!!
